Turning 10 years old, this year, there’s probably close to 850’000 Myvi’s sold to Malaysian. Quite a number is running on Malaysian roads.
Since 2005, it had been the bread and butter product for Perodua. Iterations had been made on the original platform to spawn ranges of trim levels and product facelift.
One particular favorite of mine is in the picture above. It’s the first facelifted first generation Myvi SE.
Perodua made a big investment to make refresh the Myvi even further with this model. The changes not only on the bumpers, but a new sheet metal for outer hood panel as well for the outside. I particularly like the simple grille with larger emblem up front, it’s like the Volkswagen like to do with their sports versions of Golfs and Polos.
I like the big, round foglamps. The styling mimics Suzuki Swift at the time. The rear changes limited to only ‘smoked’ rear combination lamps and new rear bumper with fauz diffusers and new reflectors shared with the non-SE facelifted models.
Gun metal rims, new four-layered Pearl White color adds up the styling credit.
After this ‘expensive’ restyling, Perodua went cost-sensitive to refresh their products. Shared parts were maximized between SE and non-SE model. The big, round foglamp haven’t seen a return yet on Perodua new models since.
